Faithfully Hopefully

Helpless
hopeless
desperate times

they can’t last
forever

can they?

Time to do
what I haven’t
done in years

Drop to my
creaky knees
and
pray to God

That very same
supreme being
I’ve doubted
and neglected
for so long

I’ve even mocked
the concept
intellectually

as voodoo theology

I just hope
the Lord
is still open
for business

Pray he still
loves me
and my
blotted soul

Maybe he can
truly be my
desperate
salvation

If he does
take a moment
from his busy
schedule to
help pull me
out of this pit

I will never
ever lose my faith

At least until
I need divine
intervention again

prayer
