The Outsider

I am
now and forever
situated in the wrong place
at the wrong time
though I’ve come to accept
my perpetual displacement
in this indifferent Universe…

Being this far out of it
does allow me
the clean perspective to finally see
the landscape in it’s entirety

Muzzling Dumbness

Prejudice and Ignorance…

Keep these yapping mutts on a tight leash
lest they break loose from your grip
and bite you in your crass opinions..

No shame in being uninformed
since reality is such a downer
but there is no need to broadcast
the full extent of your mental darkness

Be the Driver

Your dreams
are all YOURS…

Never fret
what others say
or allow them
to diminish or demean
your soul spun possibilities…

Respect the boundaries of reality
but do not allow these confines
to become your prison…

At the end of our story
let it not be said
by those whose paths we crossed
that we did not craft
our own special narrative

Blinkers On

Sometimes it’s over
before it begins…

Of course
as a defense mechanism
we live oblivious
to our selective
disconnections
and unintended
though obvious
reckless consequence

There is no shame in ignorance
if it fits your current circumstance

Purging DNA

I have spent my life
trying to purge
the scourge of Puritanism
from my American bred DNA…

Beating the religious intolerance
they ruled with was easy
since in my eyes God is obviously
not an exclusive one size fits all bigot..

And the black and white fashion thing
they paraded around in
was always senseless to me..

But their damn work like a dog
til you die at your post ethic
are still the hardest chains
for this frustrated mutt to break..

The guilt of my fully enjoying
an unproductive retirement
is my head in the stockade
public square embarrassment

Forever having to defend
doing absolutely nothing
but enjoy my dwindling time
to those still daily grinding

So fuck the long gone Puritans
and the ships they rode in on
