One glance
at my smoking phone
and I knew
a fiery text from you
had just dropped
like a flaming anvil
on my fair head

I weighed my various options
of possible defense responses
and chose deletion
without even reading
the piercing accusations
as the best chance
of keeping
our ever tenuous peace
